Author, Lieutenant Commander Travis E Short, U.S. Navy retired, is a native of southwest Virginia where he spent the early years of his life. He grew up in the coal mining town of Jenkins, Kentucky in the heart of the Appalachian coalfields. There, he gained an appreciation for the struggles and hardships of everyday Americans like him and his family. He drew on these experiences to bring Anna’s story to light. He joined the U.S. Navy at age seventeen and worked his way through the ranks, retiring at age thirty-eight. He has a degree in Engineering Sciences from U.S. Navy Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. Before devoting his energies primarily to writing, Mr. Short held positions in the shipbuilding industry including Director of Design Engineering, President, Owner, and CEO. He was seventeen when he wrote his first book, My Gun Cries Justice; the book was self-published with updates in 2018 under the penname, King Papa. He has five books available now on Amazon.com. Travis is father of four daughters and three sons. He resides in Dahlonega, Georgia and Moss Point, Mississippi with his chief encourager, Shirley Adams.
